The Archive of Old and New was conceived in collaboration with Jodi Newcombe of Carbon Arts and was commissioned for the Strange Weather exhibition. The work is an archive from the future, a speculative collection of artifacts from past and future events around the world that link communities to climate.

The work consists of two collections: The Collection of the Lost holds materials from events ceased due to a changing environment while The Collection of the New showcases novel cultural phenomena that have emerged in response to a destabilized climate. Both explore the consequences of strange weather and the extraordinary human capacity for adaptation and celebration. Humans are quite literally ‘party animals’ and festivals and gatherings show a universal appetite for revelry and how human culture emerges from seasonal cycles and local climate conditions.
