The Human Bat Partnership
This project was a part of the Remnant Emergency Artlab, a practice-led research project investigating the causes and effects of the eviction of resident flying fox colonies from several Australian Botanic Gardens sites. The Botanic Gardens' technique for removing the colonies is through use of industrial noise, to give the flying foxes a 'bad hotel experience'. The artist team envisaged an alternative Botanic Gardens, one that was no longer founded on the idea of housing 'a collection' and instead, provided space for an emergent and unruly ecology.
